PM23408: NULLPOINTEREXCEPTION WHEN USING THE WCM API TO RENDER THE CURREN T RENDERINGCONTEXT IN A PORTLET

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the local rendering portlet is configured to render a JSP
component a NullPointerException occurs if the JSP renders the
current RenderingContext using the WCM API.

This problem did not occur prior to CF35.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • The request parameters are passed to the secondary API
RenderingContext so it can be a true representation of the
original context. This is required so that components using the
API context could have access to the original request parameters
but also resulted in the change in behaviour described in this
APAR. While this change is arguably correct, it does affect
existing system relying on the original behaviour.

Problem conclusion

  • In order to maintain backwards compatibility, the service (SRV)
request parameter should not be passed to the secondary
    RenderingContext.
