Error description

  • Error Message: Customer's system abends when the attempt to
initialize a mutex attribute because the return code from

    .
    Stack Trace: N/A
    .

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Java initializes the mutex attributes at many places without
actually using it. No need to initialize these attributes unless
Java uses. Instead Java can use NULL for mutex attributes.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    1.4.2 SR13 FP8 (z/OS)
    5.0.0 SR12 FP3
    .
Modified the JVM to use NULL as mutex attributes and remove the
    initialization of mutex attributes.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20101111 or later

Temporary fix
