PM20129: CLEAR OR DISABLE SYSTEM APPS INSTALL DIRECTORY FOR FILETRANSFER EAR

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In the Websphere Application Server for z/OS the
  <WAS_HOME>/systemApps/filetransfer.ear and
  <WAS_HOME>/bin/redeployFileTransfer.jacl are not used and should
  be removed.
  

Local fix

• In the Websphere Application Server for z/OS do not
  use <WAS_HOME>/bin/redeployFileTransfer.jacl

  The script WAS_HOME/bin/redeployFileTransfer.jacl is not
  necessary and does not work on a z/OS system. This script
  should not have been included in the WebSphere Application
  Server install image for z/OS. An attempt to run the script
  may result in an error like the following:

  This script is intended only for non-z/OS systems, which have
  two versions of the filetransfer application, authenticating
  and non-authenticating (for backwards compatibility). On these
  platforms, this script is used to switch between the two
  versions.
  
  On z/OS, however, there is only one version of the
  filetransfer application, which can handle both authenticated
  and unauthenticated requests (depending on whether global
  administrative security is enabled). When the
  redeployFileTransfer.jacl script is run on z/OS, it attempts
  to switch to or from a version of the filetransfer ear that
  does not exist, and results in an error.
  

Problem conclusion

• For z/OS only, the redeployFileTransfer.jacl script has been
  modified to simply print an error message and exit.
  
  APAR PM20129 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
  Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.15 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
