Error description

  • Abends 0C1 ASRA are issued repeatedly in NQDC with the following
    psw and regs:

    The psw is pointing to a NOOP instruction resulting in the 0C1.
    We issued a BALR 14,15 with Reg14 pointing x'5CC' into NQDC.
    Reg15 points to zeros. We are in NQDC IDCS_CHK_VIEWMOD routine
    where we check if a VIEWMOD block is available. If it is, we
    call the routine to build the view. This is failing due to the
    VIEWMOD block being overlaid with zeros.

    Additional Keyword(s) and Symptom(s):
    .
    Additional Symptoms: You may also get a diagnostic dump out of
    CTEX with exception trace point-id 19 and debug text InvlVmod.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Unpredictable results caused by an *
    * overlay of CICS DSA storage may occur *
    *                      in a CPSM 4.1 CMAS when:                *
    *                                                              *
    *                      -  a GET request for CRESFILE records   *
    * is sent between the CPSM 4.1 CMAS *

    * The request can be either through *
    * the API (GET CRESFILE), WUI (CICS *
    *                         operations views --> File operations *
    * views --> Topology data for file, or *
    * similar user defined view), or the *
    * EUI FILE view (CPSM 3.1 only). *
    *                                                              *
    *                      -  a GET request for CRESIPCN records   *
    * is sent between the CPSM 4.1 CMAS *
    *                         and a CPSM 3.2 CMAS.                 *
    *                                                              *
    * The request can be either through *
    * the API (GET CRESIPCN) or the WUI *
    *                         (user defined view).                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this *
    * APAR, all CMASes must be restarted. Note *
    * that the restarts do not need to occur at *
    *                 the same time.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    When a resource table record is passed between two CMASes that
    support different versions of the record, method EYU0MOXS (MOXS)
    is called in the CMAS with the highest version to convert the
    record to the required version. A logic error in MOXS can
    result in an overlay of up to 256 bytes when a GET request for
    CRESxxxx records requires conversion.

    Currently with CPSM 4.1, the only CRESxxxx records that require
    conversion are:

    - CRESFILE when communicating with a CPSM 3.1 CMAS.

    - CRESIPCN when communicating with a CPSM 3.2 CMAS.

Problem conclusion

  • MOXT has been updated to not overlay storage when converting a
    CRESxxxx resource table record.
