WebSphere Application Server 6.1.0.31

Under heavy load, the customer experiances slowness during JNDI
Resource reference lookups. From the trace logs, we can see the
following symptoms that indicate slowness of several seconds:

synchronization block within the EJB Container.

*                      a specific EJB containing resource      *
*                      references may experience processing    *
*                      delays.                                 *

Under load where multiple threads hit the same EJB
simultaneously you may experience delays during the lookup of
resource references.  This is caused by some synchronization
within WebSphere Application Server code.

Problem conclusion

The code has been changed to remove the synchronization that
was causing the delays and instead move the data to a
ThreadLocal object to preserve the thread safety that the
synchronization was introduced to preserve.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 7.0.0.13 and 6.1.0.35.  Please refer to the
