APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Shared library mappings are not correct if modified during
    application update

    - to preserve the library reference like 6.0 even if
    "-update.ignore.old" is specified by using a JVM property
    - if new library reference is specified to override the existing
    ones remove the existing ones.

Local fix

  • Modify the mappings after application update has completed.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After an application is updated, the *
    * application and module configurations *
    * include the original shared library *

    * were specified during the update *
    *                      operation.                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    After an application is updated, the application and module
    configurations include the original shared library settings in
    addition to those that were specified during the update
    operation. Shared libraries specified during an application
    update operation should replace the original settings, not add
    to them.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix for APAR PK57399 introduced inconsistent behavior in
    an attempt to satisfy a customer request. This APAR reverts
    behavior back to the intended behavior. In order to force
    system behavior to that implemented by PK57399, set the
    property
    com.ibm.websphere.management.application.keepExistingSharedLibra
    ries as a system property with a value of "true". PK57399 was
    integrated into the product service stream in version 6.1.0.17
    and was carried forth into the initial release of version 7.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 6.1.0.37 and 7.0.0.17. Please refer to the
