• Client's environment:?Cognos 8.4 FP2 with Oracle 10.2.0.4 as
  reporting database.?Others are unrelated to this
  issue.??Information:?Client has a table in Oracle, in one
  column(VARCHAR2), there are some rows of data contain acsii
  control characters.??example if we do a dump(column)?we get

  is the acsii dec version of:??DJ EURO STOXX 50  Pr??note: the
  4th last char(acsii 26) is a control character which is not
  showing in the text version.??here is a document on control

  ascii dec 0 to 31 are all control characters.???Issue: now in
  query studio, if you drag the column to the list, it displays
  fine, however if you put a filter on the column and do a search
  on the data has control characters will give an
  error:??DPR-ERR-2065: The response from Report Server is not
  well formed. No response envelop is received??this only happens
  to data with ascii control characters.???Question: ?1. how
  congos handle ascii characters in general??2. and what about
  control characters??3. are there any documents on supporting
