Error description

  • Additional debug messages added when "Secure" flag is enabled
    in SSO settings.

    When Secure flag is not set on the LTPA cookie, we are going to
    print
    following message.

    [6/23/10 11:03:32:875 EDT] 00000018 WebAttributes 3   Cookie
    will be
    sent over both http and https protocol

    When Secure flag is set on the LTPA cookie, we are going to
    print
    following.

    [6/23/10 11:03:40.764 EDT] 00000018 WebAttributes 3   Cookie is
    secure.
    It will be sent only over https protocol.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    * Server using LTPA token *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: LTPA Token looks disappeared *
    *                      when URL is redirected/forwarded over   *
    * http protocol causes users logged out *
    *                      from application.                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When "Requires SSL" is enabled in Single sign-on panel
    in administration console, the LTPA token is created with
    "Secure" cookie attribute. LTPA token is sent only over https
    protocol and not sent over http protocol. This is an expected
    behavior, however it is not easy to find out why LTPA token is
    not sent over to the next page. This APAR will clearly show
    in the trace LTPA token attribute.

Problem conclusion

  • Additional trace message is in place to indicate
    whether or not LTPA token is sent over HTTP and HTTPS, or HTTP
    only. The message will show up when LTPA token is set to HTTP
    response.

    When "Requires SSL" is enabled,
    1. Security -> Global security
    2. Expand "Web and SIP security"
    3. Click "Single sign-on(SSO)"
    4. Enable "Requires SSL" checkbox.

    Trace will show:
    "[6/23/10 11:03:40.764 EDT] 00000018
    WebAttributes 3 Cookie is secure. It will be sent only over
    https protocol."

    If "Require SSL" is disabled, the trace will show:
    [6/23/10 11:03:32:875 EDT] 00000018 WebAttributes 3   Cookie
    will be sent over both http and https protocol

    This APAR applies to WebSphere Application Server v7 and above.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.13. Please refer to the Recommended
