Error description

  • When the Compensation Service is not enabled on the
WebSphere Application Server, the server does not create a new
instance for it. This means that a later check on whether the
instance is started results in a NullPointerException.

When disabled Compensation Scope (CS) service on the Websphere
    Application Server, using the below

    ****************************************************************
When the Compensation Service is not enabled on the WebSphere
Application Server, the server does not create a new instance
for it. This means that a later check on whether the instance
is started results in a NullPointerException.

Problem conclusion

  • A Null check has been added to prevent the
    NullPointerException. The correct
XAResourceNotAvailableException is then thrown and the error
    is logged.

APAR PK15644 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 6.1.0.35 of WebSphere Application Server V6.1.
