APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Attempting to use MQ functions in File Manager resulted in a
connection error. This was due to userid's containing a special
character '#' which is not recognized by MQ.

The userid is used to uniquely identify a dynamic queue.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
File Manager uses a command and dynamic reply queue to perform
operations with Websphere MQ, including listing of queues.
The TSO userid is included in the high level qualifiers of the
dynamic reply queue name in order to allow for userid based
security rules to be applied, should a site wish to do so.

However, the rules for naming WebSphere MQ objects do not
include the characters #,$ or @ (x'7B',x'5B, x'7C') so an
invalid object name will be generated, should the userid
    contain those characters.

Problem conclusion

  • File Manager has been updated in order to translate the userid
characters '@','#' and '$' to the allowable MQ character '_'
before setting the high level qualifier for a dynamic reply
    queue name.

This also has a security definition consideration for rules
governing the access to queue names, in that the characters
will be substituted as described above.

That is, presuming the default setting of "MQREPHLQ=FMNTMQL."
is in the active FMN0POPT with, for example a userid:
USR@#$1 will now generate the string
FMNTMQL.USR___1.* for the dynamic reply queue name.
(The * is replaced by a dynamically generated name returned by
     Websphere MQ)
