Error description

  • Clearmake can spawn more abes than defined by the CCASE_CONC or
    -J value when their are multiple assignments of CCASE_BLD_HOSTS
     wherein they have differing quantities of hostnames.

    eg.
    ?target? := CCASE_BLD_HOSTS = ?10 bldhosts?
    ?target? := CCASE_BLD_HOSTS = ?8 bldhosts?

    WORKAROUND:
    (1) ensure that all quantities of hostnames/bldhosts per CCASE_B
    LD_HOSTS are equal

Local fix

Problem summary

  • This defect happens only when CCASE_BLD_HOSTS being used
    with two different values.

Problem conclusion

  • WORK-AROUNDs suggested:
    1)Using EV "CCASE_ABE_TIMEOUT" so that idle abes are killed
    much earlier(then the default 3 hrs).
    2) Targets which require specific machine to be built on,
    can be built in a sub-make with a buildhost file containing
    required machine names.
