Error description

  • When an application has certain kinds of problems (for example,
    compiled with the wrong JDK version), and the server hosting the
    application is not restarted, the eXtreme Scale http session
    code can get into a bad state. The application on subsequent
    requests could see IllegalStateExceptions,
    LockTimeoutExceptions, and NullPointerExeptions.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The eXtreme scale session filter code was not handling
    application exceptions properly. Any unexpected exceptions
    that resulted from application code caused the session filter
    to be in an unrecoverable state. In this scenario, the
    following exceptions or errors could be logged:
    IllegalStateException, LockTimeoutException, or an error that
    says that the ObjectGrid was previously destroyed.

Problem conclusion

  • An interim fix will be made available for this APAR. A future
    cumulative fix will correct the problem for WebSphere eXtreme
    Scale Version 6.1.0.5
