Error description

  • The problem is in module DFSCVTM0. The area being used for the
    save area
appears to have been FreeMained. This is due to DFSRDD00 not
    restoring save
area forward ptr after CHECK macro.

    ****************************************************************
Save sets within the IMS prechained save area are passed
to I/O services and may return with the save area forward
pointer altered. This may validly occur when calling
routines outside of IMS. Called routines commonly get a
'next' save area and point to it with the forward pointer
in the save area that the routine was passed. There is no
guarantee that the forward pointer will be restored upon
    return to IMS.

In this case, the CHECK macro was called from DFSRDD00 under
circumstances that led to a forward pointer being set to the
CHECK routine's getmained save area and was left pointing to
it after CHECK freemained it and returned to IMS. IMS attempted
to use the forward pointer to address a save area to store
registers and an 0C4 occurred because it had been freed.

Problem conclusion

  • GEN:
    KEYWORDS:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
Code was added to DFSRDD00 to save and restore the IMS
savearea's forward pointer around the CHECK macro calls.
