Error description
If the base-uri or document-uri function is used in an XSLT stylesheet or an XQuery or XPath expression, and the argument is a node in an input document that was created using a StreamSource object with a system ID that was a relative URI, the result of the function should be the absolute URI to which the processor resolved the relative URI. The processor is instead returning the original relative URI.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server v7.0 Feature Pack for XML 1.0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If the input to an XSLT stylesheet, * * an XQuery expression or an XPath * * expression is supplied using a * * StreamSource object, a system ID may * * be specified on the StreamSource * * object. If the value of the system * * ID is an absolute URI, that should be * * used as the base URI of the document * * node in the XML input; if the value * * of the system ID is a relative URI * * reference, the processor should * * resolve it against the setting of the * * user.dir Java system property to * * produce an absolute URI, and that * * absolute URI should be used as the * * base URI of the document node. * * References to the base-uri or * * document-uri functions should return * * the absolute URI, but the processor * * is actually returning the relative * * URI reference, if such was specified * * on the StreamSource. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fix pack that contains this APAR. * **************************************************************** If the system ID set on a StreamSource is a relative URI or a file system path, the processor resolves the URI to an absolute URI using the setting of the user.dir Java system property in order to retrieve the XML input. However, the processor is storing the value of the original system ID as the base URI of the document for use in the base-uri and document-uri functions. This causes the result of these functions to return the incorrect value - the original relative URI.
Problem conclusion
The problem was fixed by changing the processor to store, with the associated XML input in memory, the value of the absolute URI to which the original relative URI reference was resolved. This ensures the processor returns that absolute URI as the result of the base-uri and document-uri functions. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 1.0.0.5.
