Error description

  • A customer migrating a JAX-RPC application from WebSphere
Application Server V5.1 to WebSphere Application Server V6.1
encountered the following error when running the application:

    WSWS3227E: Error: Exception:
    WebServicesFault
    faultCode: {http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Client
faultString: WSWS3277E: Error: Could not resolve to an
operation. The message contains an element named
    ""MyOperation"".

    Details of the customer's scenario:
    A) The customer's wsdl contains a wsdl operation named
    "myOperation".
    B) The wsdl operation is a document/literal
operation and is associated with a schema element named
    {http://sample}MyOperation. (Note the case difference.)
    C) The incoming message was invalid. The MyOperation element
did not have a namespace. This situation was tolerated
    in the V5.1 JAX-RPC runtime.
    D) The V5.1 tooling was used to construct the application.

A customer migrating a JAX-RPC application from WebSphere

    Details of a scenario:

        "myOperation".
      B) The wsdl operation is a document/literal
operation and is associated with a schema element named
{htpp://sample}MyOperation. (Note there is a difference
         in case.)
      C) The incoming message is invalid. The MyOperation element
does not have a namespace. This situation is tolerated
         in the V5.1 JAX-RPC runtime.
      D) The V5.1 tooling is used to construct the application.

Note: This is a rare scenario. WebSphere Application Server
should tolerate this scenario since it is tolerated in version
    5.1.

Problem conclusion

  • The JAX-RPC runtime contains logic to tolerate situations like
the one reported by the customer. Due to a flaw in the
toleration logic (related to name capitalization) this
particular scenario was not accepted. The JAX-RPC runtime is
corrected to account for the capitalization difference.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.33 and 7.0.0.11. Please refer to the
