Problem conclusion
X-* processing expects to be able to get to the document node. The solution is to copy the document node over. APAR PM08507 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 1.0.1.3 of WebSphere Application Server v7 Feature Pack for Service Component Architecture (SCA) Refresh Pack.
