    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When calling the DataFactory.create(Type type) with the type
    of {commonj.sdo}BigInteger, a NullPointerException
    will be thrown. When calling the DataFactory.create(String
    uri, String typeName) with commonj.sdo as the uri and
    BigInteger as the typeName, it returns null meaning
    {commonj.sdo}BigInteger type does not exist.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem was caused by WebSphere Process Server's
    overriding SDO's type definition from {commonj.sdo}Integer to
    {commonj.sdo}BigInteger to support its backward compatibility.
    In the standard SDO, there is no such type as
    {commonj.sdo}BigInteger. That's why create(Type) is throwing
    NullPointerException and create(String, String) is returning
    null meaning no type is found. This is corrected.

    APAR PM08498 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
    Level (Fix Pack) 1.0.1.3 of WebSphere Application Server v7
    Feature Pack for Service Component Architecture (SCA) Refresh
    Pack. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for
