APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The Portlet Container aggregation tag lib fails with a
    NullPointerException specifically on WebSphere Application
Server V7.0.0.7. The error was introduced with an APAR in
7.0.0.7. It can only be seen with web applications that have a
multi-part context root like: context1/context2 configured.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The Portlet Container aggregation tag lib fails to create an
internal key that is used to store and read attributes from the
session. As a result a NullPointerException is thrown when
accessing the session. This happens if a portlet is configured
to have a multi-part context root like context1/context2.

Problem conclusion

  • The portlet container aggregation tag lib is changed to
correctly create the internal key for portlets that have
    multi part context roots.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.11. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
