Error description
Error Message: After setting the export TZ=Asia/Kolkata and Running the TimeTest.java testcase customer was getting the follwoing o/p :- sdk60sr7/jre/bin/java TimeTest Thu Feb 11 08:43:29 GMT 2010 sun.util.calendar.ZoneInfo<OSB>id="GMT",offset=0,dstSavings=0,us eDaylight=false,transitions=0,lastRule=null<CSB> GMT Greenwich Mean Time Curently not in daylight-savings time. . Stack Trace: N/A . When the time zone is set to Asia/Kolkata at OS level and using IBM Java, it is not recognized by Java. The Java output would show the time zone id "GMT" and also gives incorrect information.
Local fix
Use -Duser.timezone="Asia/Kolkata".
Problem summary
Time Zone Asia/Kolkata missing in IBM Java. IBM Java is recognizing Asia/Calcutta but not recognizing Asia/Kolkata when setting at OS level.
Problem conclusion
This defect will be fixed in: 6.0.0 SR8 5.0.0 SR12 1.4.2 SR13 FP5 . The time zone mapping between Operating System and IBM Java for the time zone Asia/Kolkata was missing. It has been added into Java codebase now. . To obtain the fix: Install build 20100324 or later
