When the 'ssl.repertoire' custom property is set on a
WebSphere MQ JMS connection factory, WebSphere Application
Server constructs an SSLSocketFactory use by the WebSphere MQ
JMS client.

The WebSphere Application Server code incorrectly constructs a
new SSLSocketFactory object every time the connection factory
is referenced. This included multiple times while calling
createConnection, even if connections already exist in the
connection pool.  The construction of the SSLSocketFactory
object is expensive, and adds an unacceptable overhead to
the createConnection call.

Problem conclusion

The fix for this APAR changes the WebSphere Application Server
code to only construct the SSLSocketFactory the first time the
connection factory is referenced with the 'ssl.repertoire'
property set.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.0.2.43, 6.1.0.33 and 7.0.0.11.  Please refer to the
