Error description

  • During abend, DB2 was trying to insert a record into a catalog
table SYSIBM.SYSTABAUTH. According to the DDL of SYSTABAUTH,
the first column is VARCHAR (128), the length is x'80'. But the
length trying to move is x'400', thus DB2 abend.

Local fix

    With PK92315 (UK53070 V8, UK53071 V9) applied, during an
authorization check an abend occurred with dump titles like the
    following:

    V8:

    XXXX,ABND=04E-00C90101,U=YYYYYYY ,M=(N),
       C=810.DMC -DSNIISRT,M=DSNTFRCV, LOC=DSNIDM  .DSNIZMOS:5002

    ,LOC=DSNXAUTH.DSNXAAPC:P120

    XXXX,ABND=0C4-00000004,U=YYYYYY ,M=(N),C=810.SCC
    -SHUTDOWN,M=DSNTFRCV,LOC=DSNSLD1 .DSNSVSTK+05D8

    XXXX,ABND=0C4-00000004,U=YYYYYYY ,M=(N),C=810.RDS -SQL
    ,M=DSNTFRCV,LOC=DSNXAUTH.DSNXAAPC+1D96

    V9:

    XXXX,ABND=04E-00C90101,U=YYYYYY ,M=(N),C=910.DMC
     -DSNIISRT,M=DSNTFRCV,LOC=DSNIDM .DSNIBNRF:5002

    XXXX,ABND=04E-00E70005,U=YYYYYY ,M=(N),C=910.RDS -SQL ,M=DS
    NTFRCV,LOC=DSNXAUTH.DSNXAAPC:P120

    XXXX,ABND=0C4-00000010,U=YYYYYB ,M=(N),C=910.LOCN=ZZZZZZZZZZ
    ,LOC=DSNXAUTH.DSNXASPC+090C

The V9, 0C4 at DSNXASPC+090C occurred because the authid type
(user or role) was not included in the building of the package
and routine authorization caches. This resulted in an overlay of
    the next cache entry.

The rest of the abends are related to the use of an invalid
length for a varchar field. It is invalid because it was not
initialized on entry to the module.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been changed to initialize the length field and to
include the authid type in the V9 package and routine
    authorization cache builds.

If you are using an external security system other than RACF
(DSNXRXAC) to perform authorization on DB2 resources using the
access control authorization exit (DSNX@XAC), contact its vendor
to ensure it uses this exit's interface as documented in the DB2
    Administration Guide.
