Error description
When generating SQL from a DB2 table using FM/DB2 under ISPF, output file (DDname SQL) is not found. This occurs when the data set name field for the 'Output file and execution mode:' is left blank. ------------------------------------------------ This APAR also contains a sysroute for APAR PK92028.
Local fix
Preallocate data set and specify the data set name in the dsn field for 'Output file and execution mode:'
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All File Manager users of the DB2 component. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. PK92028 * * Message 'Dataset not found' produced * * when using the GEN command and the * * execution Mode is TSO. * * Panel is Generate SQL From DB2 Catalog. * * 2. PK99862 * * When using the FM DB2 GEN command, * * a number of problems exist with the * * output data set specification in * * TSO mode. * * Messages Input Not Accepted and * * Data Set Not found may be produced. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** 1. Problem occurs when FM allocates a system generated temporary dataset as input to to the GEN command. Because it is not catalogued the allocate fails. 2. In TSO mode the default output dataset (ie when the Output Data Set Name is left blank) should be a temporary dataset used to display the output of the GEN command. It is not being allocated correctly and misleading messages are produced. Also the field help panel should be updated to ensure that the behaviour with TSO and Batch modes is clear.
Problem conclusion
File Manager DB2 has been updated to correct the problems.
