Error description
ADJUST SUBPOOL SIZES IF FPBP64=Y AT IMS STARTUP
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: ALL IMSFP V11 FPBP64 USERS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Apar will alter size of initial subpool * * allocation sizes. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF * **************************************************************** This apar was opened to asjust the initial size of the subpools at IMS start up based upon customer feedback.
Problem conclusion
GEN: POSTREQ PM07658 KEYWORDS: *** END IMS KEYWORDS *** This apar will adjust the initial subpool sizes to align with buffer use feedback. 1. Increase the base subpool size to 1/8 of the # AREAs wtih the associated CI size. If there are 2000 ares defined with a CISIZE of 1K, the initial subpool size will be 250 buffers. 2. Determine the largest CI size in the system, which will be used when allocating the SYSTEM subpool with the largest buffer size. 3. Make the extent size for the largest CI sized system subpool to 2x the base size. This is due to system services using the largest system buffer size as work areas. 4. When creating a system subpool with a buffer size that will be used for SDEP inserts, make the base section 1/4 of the # SDEP AREAs with the associated CI size. This is to allow for increased buffer use for SDEPs. For 400 AREAs with SDEPs, the base size will be 100 buffers. DBFBPNA: added byte to save the largest CI size. DBFINI29 determine the largest CI size in the system for INI22 to use. DBFBPNS0 Make the extent size of the largest buffer size 2x the size of the base section. DBFINI22 1. If AREAs with SDEPs defined exist for the CI size being created, make the SYSTEM subpool larger. 2. Increase the initial size of the common subpools.
