Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: All DB2 for z/OS V8 and DB2 9 for z/OS       *
*                 utility users of DSN1COPY.                   *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: User repeatedly called DSN1COPY via     *
*                      REXX. The REXX exec abended with        *
*                      MSGIEA705I and ABEND878 and ABEND80A.   *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available.         *
****************************************************************
User called DSN1COPY repeatedly via REXX to copy full image
copies. The REXX exec abended with multiple ABEND878 and
ABEND80A abends with MSGIEA705I indicating that below the line
storage was not available. QSAM buffers are allocated below
the line and were not freed.

Problem conclusion

  • DSN1COPY has been modified to free the QSAM buffers.
