    ****************************************************************
A utility job used a LISTDEF that included a large number of
objects to REORG them. After running successfully through many
items in the list, the utility terminated with an ABEND04E
    RC00E40034.

Storage in the utility batch address space is obtained to hold
messages issued from the DBM1 address space until they can be
printed. This message storage, when obtained from a utility
subtask, is not being freed when the utility finishes processing
each object in the list. If enough messages are issued,
eventually storage in the batch address space will be exhausted,
and failure to obtain the next message buffer will cause the
    ABEND04E RC00E40034.

Problem conclusion

  • Utility subtask termination and list processing code has been
changed to free the message buffers.
