Error description

While running a JAX-RPC application, the following error may
occur on the client or on the server:

java.lang.NullPointerException  at
com.ibm.ws.webservices.engine.encoding.ser.BeanDeserializer.setI
t(BeanDeserializer.java:790)

This error only occurs if the name of the JAX-RPC bean is
"Component".

While running a JAX-RPC application, the following error may
occur on the client or on the server:

java.lang.NullPointerException  at
com.ibm.ws.webservices.engine.encoding.ser.BeanDeserializer.setI
t(BeanDeserializer.java:790)

This error only occurs if the name of the JAX-RPC bean is
"Component".

The error occurs while the JAX-RPC runtime is reading an
inbound web service message that contains an element that is
mapped to a user generated JAX-RPC bean named "Component".
The symptom is a NullPointerException error in the
BeanDeserializer.setIt method.

Problem conclusion

The JAX-RPC runtime uses the Java Introspector to gather bean
properties.  Due to a flaw in the Java Introspector, it may
gather the wrong bean properties if the name of the inspected
class is "Component".

The JAX-RPC runtime is changed to use a different Introspector
algorithm if the name of the JAX-RPC bean is "Component".  The
correction avoids the error, and the JAX-RPC bean is
successfully built.


The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.31 and 7.0.0.9.  Please refer to the
