APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • UNLOAD DELIMITED with LOB columns or UNLOAD NOPAD with LOB
    columns could potentially cause the storage overlay
    ABEND0C4 RC00000011 RC11 DSNSVBK + 0E62
    ABEND0C4 RC00000010 RC10 DSNSVBK + 19DA
    other abends are possible due to the overlay .
    DB2OVRLAY/K

Local fix

  • 1. Avoid using UNLOAD if at all possible
    2. If UNLOAD is necessary, unload all the LOB columns to file
    reference variables to avoid the overlay.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: UNLOAD DELIMITED of a table with LOB *
    * columns attempted to unload a record *
    *                      greater than 32K, encountered           *
    *                      message MSGDSNU1231I or MSGDSNU1233I ,  *
    * and overlaid an internal DB2 control *
    *                      structure resulting in an ABEND0C4      *
    *                      RC00000011 at DSNSVBK+x'0E62'           *
    *                      on a subsequent PREPARE statement       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available *
    ****************************************************************
    UNLOAD DELIMITED of a table with LOB columns attempted to
    unload a record greater than the 32K limit and encountered
    message MSGDSNU1231I or MSGDSNU1233I. Even though the record
    was not unloaded to the unload output data set, UNLOAD tried
    to write the data beyond the storage allocated for the internal
    unload buffer, causing an overlay of an internal DB2 control
    structure resulting in an ABENDS0C4 RC00000011 at
    DSNSVBK+x'0E62' on a subsequent PREPARE statement.

    Since internal DB2 storage control blocks could be overlaid
    a number of abends could occur during the UNLOAD or on a
    subsequent job. Additional symptoms that could be seen
    once the internal control structures are overlaid include
    but are not limited to:

    ABENDS0C4 RC00000010 at DSNSVBK+x'19DA' 19DA
    ABENDS0C4 RC00000010 at DSNSVBK+x'19D6' 19D6
    ABEND04E  RC00E20029 at DSNSVBK+x'0A12' 0A12
    ABEND04E  RC00E20029 at DSNSVBK+x'0A12' 0A12
    ABEND04E  RC00E20006 at DSNSVBK+x'098E' 098E
    ABEND0C4  RC00000011 at DSNSVBK+x'0E62' 0E62
    ABEND0D7  RC00000025
    ABENDS0D7 RC00000025

    DB2 ABNORMAL TERMINATION REASON=00D94001
    RC00D94001

    These problems could also occur with UNLOAD NOPAD or UNLOAD
    DELIMITED/NOPAD with XML columns

    Additional keywords:  SMCOVERLAY  DB2LOB

Problem conclusion

  • UNLOAD DELIMITED and NOPAD with LOB or XML columns has been
    modified to prevent unloaded data from being written beyond
    the internal unload buffer when the record exceeds 32K.
