Error description

  • Error Message: N/A
    .
    Stack Trace: N/A
    .

Local fix

  • Increase the default OS stack size with ulimit.

Problem summary

  • The problem was determined to be the result of the Async Signal
Handler thread being forked with the default OS stack size.
When the signal handler was triggered with a large on-stack
buffer a fatal native stack overflow occurred.

Problem conclusion

  • This defect will be fixed in:
    1.4.2 SR13 (zLinux 64-bit)
    .
The JVM has been updated so that the stack size is set to the
    -Xmso value for the platform.
-verbose:sizes option can be used to determine the operating
    system default values.
    .
    To obtain the fix:
    Install build 20090904 or later

Temporary fix
