APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The ws_ant task fails to load <classpath> for Java2WSDL with
    the following ClassNotFoundException error:

    java.io.IOException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: test.Test
    com.ibm.ws.webservices.wsdl.fromJava.Emitter.init(Emitter.java:8
    09)
    com.ibm.ws.webservices.wsdl.fromJava.Emitter.getWSDL(Emitter.jav
    a:674)

Local fix

  • Add Java2WSDLTask classPath attribute as follow.

    <Java2WSDLTask output="pathname of wsdl file to create"
        classPath = "path of java class"
        className="name of Java class to be mapped"
        implClass="name of Java class implementation to
        be mapped"
        namespace="target namespace for the WSDL file
        being generated"
        location="location or URL of the service">
      <mapping namespace="namespace to map to" package="Java
       package to map"/>
    </Java2WSDLTask>

    * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fix pack that contains this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    ws_ant may fail to load classes defined in the specified class
    path when the following conditions are met:

    * A taskdef is defined for com.ibm.websphere.ant.tasks.Java2WSDL
    * A classpath element is contained in the taskdef
    * Classes in the specified classpath are required in order for
    the Java2WSDL tool to complete successfully

    When these conditions are met, a ClassNotFoundException error
    may occur.

    EXAMPLE:
    ws_ant.bat/sh -f build.xml

    BUILD.XML:
    <taskdef name="Java2WSDLTask"
             classname="com.ibm.websphere.ant.tasks.Java2WSDL">
        <classpath>
            <pathelement path="C:\WebSphere\lib\webservices.jar"/>
            <pathelement path="C:\myTest\Test.jar"/>
        </classpath>
    </taskdef>
    ...
    <Java2WSDLTask output="C:\myTest\Test.wsdl"
                   className="test.Test"
                   implClass="test.Test"
                   namespace="http://myTest"
                   location="http://localhost:9080/myTest/Test">
        <mapping namespace="http://myTest"
                 package="test"/>
    </Java2WSDLTask>

    ERROR:
    java.io.IOException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: test.Test
    com.ibm.ws.webservices.wsdl.fromJava.Emitter.init(Emitter.java:8
    09)
    com.ibm.ws.webservices.wsdl.fromJava.Emitter.getWSDL(Emitter.jav
    a:674)

Problem conclusion

  • The com.ibm.websphere.ant.tasks.Java2WSDL does not support the
    classpath that is specified on the taskdef. A classPath
    attribute must be specified on the task that has been defined
    for Java2WSDL by the taskdef.

    The javadoc for the Java2WSDL ant task has been updated to
    include the <classPath> attribute requirement.

    The javadoc will now display the following:

    <Java2WSDLTask output="pathname of wsdl file to create"
    className="name of Java class to be mapped"
    classPath="location of Java class to be mapped"
    implClass="name of Java class implementation to be
    mapped"
    namespace="target namespace for the WSDL file being
    generated"
    location="location or URL of the service">
    <mapping namespace="namespace to map to"
    package="Java package to map"/>
    </Java2WSDLTask>

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 6.0.2.39, 6.1.0.29, and 7.0.0.9. Please refer to the
