Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the TDSz IMS CSQ feature who *
    * use or might consider using the TABLEFLUSH *
    *                 DRLIPARM statement.                          *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Use of the TABLEFLUSH parameter does *
    * not provide the expected improvement *
    * in TDSz IMS CSQ feature log collection *
    *                      performance.                            *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY THE PTF FIXING THIS APAR *
    ****************************************************************
    An internal field used to determine whether log record control
    blocks had aged sufficiently to be candidates for writing to
    incomplete composite records to free storage is sometimes reset
    incorrectly, causing the control blocks to appear "younger"
    than they actually are. As a result they are excluded from
    TABLEFLUSH processing and the expected reduction in resource
    usage and consequent performance improvement is not realised.

Problem conclusion

  • TABLEFLUSH processing has been enhanced to provide the expected
    control block flushing and corresponding potential performance
    gains. New DRLIPARM parameters have been added to provide better
    control of the tableflush process, and new messages have been
    added to provide more information on the results of the process.
    New documentation has been provided to allow users to better
    understand and exploit the tableflush process.
