Error description
The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) container should send a response from the same port the request was received on. Details - On a standalone server with two virtual hosts: default_host (SIP ports 5060/5061) and sip_proxyreg_host (SIP ports 5080/5081). The application is running on sip_proxyreg_host. The ethereal dump shows that the REGISTER request is received on port 5080, but the 200 OK response is sent from port 5060. The response message is blocked because of firewall restrictions

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) users * * of IBM WebSphere Application Server, * * standalone application server deployment. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The SIP container receives a request * * over one channel and sends the * * response over a different channel. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem occurs when the SIP container is configured with multiple UDP channel chains. The container sends a response from a different channel than the one that received the request. This results in a different port number between the request packet destination and the response packet source. If a firewall is placed in front of the application server, and it only allows SIP traffic on one port, then it will filter out the response packet, and the client will get no reply.
Problem conclusion
The problem is fixed in the SIP container code. With this fix, the response is sent over the same channel that carried the original request, and the source port of the response packet matches the destination port of the request packet. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.29 and 7.0.0.9.
