    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The JSP and File Serving *
    *                      extendedDocumentRoot attribute does     *
    * not resolve WebSphere Variables. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The extendedDocumentRoot attribute currently does not have the
    capability to resolve WebSphere Variables when they are
    specified as the value. There are two types of attributes
    which use the extendedDocumentRoot attribute. One is the
    JSPAttribute (for JSP files) and the other is
    FileServingAttribute (for static files).

    Below are example entries which contains a WebSphere Variable:

    <jspAttributes xmi:id="JSPAttribute_2
    name="extendedDocumentRoot"
    value="${WAS_INSTALL_ROOT}/myJsps,D:/test"/>
    <fileServingAttributes xmi:id="FileServingAttribute_1"
    name="extendedDocumentRoot"
    value="${MY_CUSTOM_VARIABLE}/myTest.jar"/>

    Since the variable names are not resolved, requests for files
    in extendedDocumentRoot directories which would normally be
    found if the variable was resolved will result in a
    FileNotFoundException.

Problem conclusion

  • The WebContainer and JSP Engine were modified to allow the use
    of WebSphere Variables in the value for the
    extendedDocumentRoot attribute. If any WebSphere Variable in
    the specified value cannot be resolved, it will result in none
    of the variables to be resolved.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.7. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
