Error description

  • ACCESS DATE and DAYS SINCE LAST ACCESS invalidly updated by PING
    SERVER command

    Problem Description:
A PING SERVER command results in an update of the ACCESS
DATE/TIME and DAYS SINCE LAST ACCESS fields of the Q SERVER
output. This is also true for TSM Servers or Storage Agents
being defined on the source server but being no longer existent.

The PING SERVER command should not update these fields as it
does not necessarily result in a successful connection
    establishment.

    TSM Versions Affected:
TSM Server 5.4, 5.5 and 6.1. on all supported platforms
    .
    Initial Impact:
    Low
    .
    Additional Keywords:
ping server, tcpserveraddress, tcpport, access, define server,
    stagent, storage agent, s2s
    .

Local fix

  • Do not use PING SERVER and Q SERVER (with focus on LAST ACCESS
DATE/TIME and DAYS SINCE LAST ACCESS) when checking for the
availability of a TSM Server or Storage Agent.
