Error description

  • When performing two administrative functions with a JMX client
using a third party JDK (for example, SUN JDK) it fails with
NoClassDefFoundError looking for some additional classes.

    1. Installing an EAR file using the AdminClient and
AppManagement. When the program is run with any non-IBM JRE
(for example SUN JRE) and adding only the Application Server V7
admin.client JAR file to the classpath, there is a
NoClassDefFoundError due to a missing class, but this class is
actually not needed for the installation

    ****************************************************************
A NoClassDefFound exception is thrown for KrbException class
when running the admin thinclient using a SUN JRE although
security is disabled. The issue is not caused by Application
Server code, rather that SUN JRE is trying to load any class
referenced even when the class is not used. Here are the
    details:

When performing two administrative functions with JMX client
using third party JDK (for example, SUN JDK) it fails with
NoClassDefFoundError looking for some additional classes.
Adding a NotificationListener to a application server using
the AdminClient. When the program is run with any non-IBM
JRE and adding only the Application Server admin.client JAR to
theclasspath, there is a NoClassDefFoundError due to a missing
class, but this class actually not needed.

    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
    com/ibm/security/krb5/KrbException

    com.ibm.ws.management.event.ListenerInfo.getSecurityMonitor(List
    enerInfo.java:95)

    com.ibm.ws.management.event.ListenerInfo.<init>(ListenerInfo.jav
    a:46)

    com.ibm.ws.management.event.LocalNotificationService.createListe

    com.ibm.ws.management.event.LocalNotificationService.addListener
    Internal(LocalNotificationService.java:193)

Problem conclusion

  • Change code to remove the NoClassDefFound error for
KrbException class. The BLA related NoClassDefFound is already
    fixed in v7.0.0.5.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack v7.0.0.7. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
