Error description

  • Improve query performance for portlet preferences

Local fix

Problem summary

  • New indices are introduced to optimize query performance for
preferences of portlets. Additionally an obsolete index is
    removed.

Problem conclusion

  • When the APAR has been applied using the Portal Update
Installer, then no changes are made to the database yet.

    Automated application of index modifications:
To modify the indices this configuration task must be
    executed:
       "config-pk86903".
To remove the index modifications this configuration task
    must be executed:
       "unconfig-pk86903"
Once the modifications have been reverted, the APAR can be
uninstalled again using the Portal Update Installer.

       Example:
       C:\IBM\WebSphere\PortalServer\config\WPSconfig.bat
    config-pk86903 (6.0.1.x only!)
       C:\IBM\WebSphere\wp_profile\ConfigEngine\ConfigEngine.bat
    config-pk86903 (6.1.0.x only)

    Manual application of index modifications:
Alternatively the indices can be modified manually. The
corresponding SQL statements can be found in these files:

    For Cloudscape: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/cloudscape/PK86903_install.sql
    For DB2 UDB LUW: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/db2/PK86903_install.sql
For DB2 UDB for iSeries: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/db2_iseries/PK86903_install.sql
    For Oracle: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/oracle/PK86903_install.sql
    For MS SQL Server: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/sqlserver/PK86903_install.sql

Also the indices can be removed manually. The corresponding
SQL statements can be found in these files:

    For Cloudscape: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/cloudscape/PK86903_uninstall.sql
    For DB2 UDB LUW: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/db2/PK86903_uninstall.sql
For DB2 UDB for iSeries: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/db2_iseries/PK86903_uninstall.sql
    For Oracle: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/oracle/PK86903_uninstall.sql
    For MS SQL Server: <PortalServer
    home>/config/templates/db/sqlserver/PK86903_uninstall.sql

Note: Changes need to be applied to all of these three
    database domains equally:
       - RELEASE
       - COMMUNITY
       - CUSTOMIZATION
