    server startup.
This can result in a variety of different errors being issued

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users running IBM HTTP Server on z/OS *
    * or Windows with SSL configured for client connections *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: mod_ibm_ssl initializes itself twice *
    * during IHS V6.x startup on z/OS and Windows. This slows *
    * startup down slightly and also may result in a mostly *
    * harmless ABENDEC6 on z/OS                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply this fix on z/OS or Windows to speed *
    * IHS initialization with SSL configured. *
    ****************************************************************
mod_ibm_ssl was initialing itself twice during IHS startup on
z/OS and Windows. On z/OS, this results in the SSL session ID
cacheing daemon (sidd) process being terminated via SIGTERM then
restarted. If the first sidd instance was never dispatched
prior to catching the SIGTERM, it gets an ABENDEC6 due to not
having a signal handler in place for the SIGTERM. Usually this
is harmless, but the console ABEND messages could trigger some
    automation.

Problem conclusion

  • mod_ibm_ssl has been changed to only initialize itself once on
z/OS and Windows. This problem does not exist in IHS V7.0
