PK85521: WCM MAKES NESTED GROUP SEARCH EVEN THOUGH NESTED GROUPS ARE DISABLED IN THE PORTAL.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• WCM makes nested group search even though nested groups are
  disabled in the portal.
  
  Excessive LDAP calls were made during the login process.
  WCM portlets were deployed on the landing page.
  
  Once this APAR is installed an additional manual configuration
  setting is required to enable the functionality in this APAR:
  
  1) Login to the Intregated Solutions Console
  2) Navigate to Resources > Resource environment providers > WCM
  WCMConfigService > Custom properties
  
  3) Create a new custom property:
  
  Name: nestedGroupLookup.disabled
  Value: true
  Type: java.lang.String
  
  4) Save changes. If clustered, sync nodes.
  5) Restart the Portal server(s).

Problem summary

• WCM USES NESTED GROUP SEARCH WHEN NESTED GROUPS
  ARE DISABLED IN THE PORTAL.
  .
  WCM does not recognize when support for nested groups has been
  disabled in Portal.  When nested groups are disabled in portal
  WCM continues to requested  users' nested groups from PUMA
  resulting in additional and in some cases unnecessary LDAP
  searches.
  

Problem conclusion

• The accessControlDataManagement.enableNestedGroups setting does
  not apply to WCM.  WCM continues to request a users full
  hierarchical group membership and therefore prevents
  environments using WCM from completely disabling nested groups.
  This may result in some unnecessary LDAP searches if nested
  group searches are not required.
