Error description

  • We are using Rational Application Developer 7.5.3 to build
JAX-WS webservices. If you define a web service with a
    @HandlerChain annotation and a corresponding webservices.xml
deployment descriptor entry with a handler chain element, an
    exception is thrown during deployment.

    This precludes us from
overriding annotations from the deployment descriptor.

    ****************************************************************
The customer receives error message WSWS7027E during
application deployment because there are @HandlerChain
annotations AND there are also handler chains defined in the
webservices.xml for the application. The correct behavior is
that handler chains defined in the webservices.xml should
override the annotations. This is specified in JSR 109 section
    6.2.2.3.

    This precludes them from
overriding annotations from the deployment descriptor.

Problem conclusion

  • If we find Handler Chains in the deployment descriptor, we
must use those instead of what was specified by annotations.
The JAX-WS runtime is changed to correctly obey this rule.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.5. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
