    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Under certain circumstances, cache *
    * fragments will be produced with UTF-8 *

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Appending UTF-8 to the cache id results in multiple copies of
    fragments, affects cache hit rates and unnecessarily increases
    the size of the cache.

Problem conclusion

  • A property has been defined, ignore-char-encoding, in
    cachespec.dtd. When this property is set to true the character
    encoding will not be appended to the cache id.

    APAR PK82688 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
    Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.3 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
