Error description
The fix is to address 6.1 console installing a rar on a 6.0.2 node. .. The fix will take care of 2 things: .. 1. Change the behavior of the 6.1 DMGR to where installation of rar files will expand them to the outer directory as it did in previous versions 2. If a new rar file is installed to 6.0.2, it will backup the existing rar install if it is expanded. The updated rar install will expand just the outer level. Remove the backup if extraction is successful.

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * in a mixed-cell environment with a V7.0 * * deployment manager and a V6.0.1 node * * on z/OS. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In a mixed-cell environment with a * * V7.0 deployment manager and a * * V6.0.1 node, updating an existing * * non-expanded resource adapter * * (previously installed through a V6.0.1 * * deployment manager) on a V6.0.1 node * * through a V7.0 administrative console * * fails. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The V7.0 resource adapter install has added capability to delete the temporary copy of a resource adapter downloaded to a node after an install. However, this new capability is not supported in a V6.0.1 node causing a resource adapter to be installed or updated in an expanded format. The difference in expansion between the previously install and the update results in the following exception: ConfigServiceException javax.management.MBeanException com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.AdminException: ADMN0029E: An error occurred while extracting archive /testcase/toyRA.rar. The exception is com.ibm.etools.j2ee.commonarchivecore.exception.SaveFailureExcep tion: META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
Problem conclusion
The code was modified not to send the request to delete the temporary copy of a resource adapter to a V6.0.1 node, and the installed or updated resource adapter is always in a non-expanded format. The fix for this problem spans two releases, V7.0 and V6.0.1 This APAR covers the fix in a V7.0 deployment manager. If a resource adapter is installed on a V6.0.1 node through a V7.0 console before this fix is applied, the installed resource adapter is in an expanded format. An update to the same resource adapter after this fix is applied will fail. Customer has option to either manually remove the installed resource adapter in a V6.0.1 node or apply PK73157 fix to a V6.0.1 node. APAR PK82652 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.3 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
