APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • There is an ODC issue with target.xml files where the
    SSL-offload/onload property is not parsed correctly.

    A server's target.xml file will show the following:

    <application name="ProxyRoutingRule:xxxxxxx">
          ........
          <property name="protocolMap" value="SSL-onload"/>
          ........

    when it should be:
    <application name="ProxyRoutingRule:xxxxxxx">
          ........
          <property name="protocolMap" value="SSL-offload"/>
          ........

    since ODC is setting the endpoints of the cluster members to be
    SSLenabled = true.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server *
    *                 V6.0.1 for z/OS                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Proxy server mishandles protocol *
    * mapping, changing requests from HTTP *
    *                      to HTTPS and vice-versa.                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The On Demand Configuration component incorrectly parses the
    protocol mapping value, resulting in a conversion from HTTP to
    HTTPS and vice versa, which in turn results in the Proxy
    server mishandling requests.

Problem conclusion

  • The On Demand Configuration component will be corrected to
    properly handle the protocol mapping values.

    APAR PK72163 currently targeted for inclusion in Service
    Level (Fix Pack) 6.0.2.33 of WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1
    for z/OS.
