PK73545: WARNING ABOUT CONFIG ISSUE WITH REMOTE RENDERING PORTLET WHEN USING AN INSECURE CONNECTION AND WCM_REMOTE_HOST_PATH IS NOT SET

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • when a remote rendering portlet is configured with
    WCM_REMOTE_HOST_PATH_SSL set and WCM_REMOTE_HOST_PATH blank, a
MalformedURLException will be thrown if the underlying
connection is insecure. an additional warning message was added
that notifies about a potential configuration issue. for
example, this can happen when WAS is not aware of ssl-offloading
in front of the portal server.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • An SSL offloading component is used in front of WAS/Portal and a
remote rendering portlet is configured to use SSL. If WAS is not
configured properly getRemoteURL will return an empty URL since
PortletRequest.isSecure will return false but no
WCM_REMOTE_HOST_BASE_PATH is set. A MalformedURLException will
    be thrown in this case.
