Error description

When a profile is created in WebSphere Application Server
V7.0.0.0 a copy of the WebSphere MQ resource adapter is
created in that profile, and used by applications which run on
application servers within that profile to access WebSphere MQ.

This resource adapter is not updated when a fix pack is
installed.

Runtime issues have been observed when using WebSphere MQ as a
messaging provider for WebSphere Application Server V7.0.0.0
with this resource adapter.

When a profile is created in WebSphere Application Server
V7.0.0.0 a copy of the WebSphere MQ resource adapter is
created in that profile, and used by applications which run on
application servers within that profile to access WebSphere MQ.

This resource adapter is not updated when a fix pack is
installed.

Additionally, the following problems may be observed when using
WebSphere Application Server for z/OS with WebSphere MQ as a
messaging provider:

Inefficient delivery of messages between the Controller Region
Adjunct and Servant Regions.

Controller Region Adjunct may hang during server shutdown when
a message-driven bean application is used with WebSphere MQ.

MQRC_Q_MGR_NOT_AVAILABLE connection failures can
incorrectly with WebSphere MQ messaging provider connection
factories with the 'bindings then client' transport
setting.

The following exception can occur when global transactions
are used with WebSphere MQ messaging provider connection
factories with the 'bindings then client' transport
setting:
javax.transaction.SystemException: ATRBEG Failed, RC = 1841
at com.ibm.ws390.tx.NativeGlobalTransactionContext.
                 create(NativeGlobalTransactionContext.java:207)
at com.ibm.ws.tx.jta.TransactionImpl.
           checkIfNativeTransactional(TransactionImpl.java:1560)

WebSphere MQ activation specifications with a 'bindings'
transport setting cannot be used in WebSphere Application
Server z/OS.

Problem conclusion

This APAR will be delivered in WebSphere Application Server
fix pack 7.0.0.1.

Profiles created with this APAR applied will not contain a
copy of the WebSphere MQ resource adapter.
Instead they will refer to a common copy of the resource
adapter in the WebSphere Application Server installation.
This common copy of the resource adapter will be updated when
WebSphere Application Server fix packs are applied.

Users with a profile created at 7.0.0.0 are recommended to
refer to the following link for further information on
applying fix pack 7.0.0.1 and later:

This APAR also resolves the above runtime issues that can be
experienced when using WebSphere MQ as a messaging provider
for WebSphere Application Server V7 for z/OS.
