Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    *                  Server V6.1                                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If an empty cluster is deleted that *
    * has applications targeted to it, the *
    * target mapping is not cleaned up from *
    *                      the application deployment.xml file.    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When an application is installed and targeted to a cluster,
    the deployment.xml of the application contains the following
    target mapping:

    <deploymentTargets xmi:type="appdeployment:ClusteredTarget"
    xmi:id="ClusteredTarget_1219158025999" name="cluster1"/>

    If all the members of the cluster are deleted and then the
    cluster is deleted, the target mapping is not removed from the
    deployment.xml

Problem conclusion

  • The fix takes care of removing the deployment target mapping
    when the cluster with no member is deleted.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 6.1.0.21. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
