Error description

  • When the host header for an inbound http request is longer than
256 bytes, stack storage is overlaid. This leads to an 0C4 abend
in the controller and this is followed by a hung server. The
controller displays the following message when the problem
    occurs,

    ****************************************************************
The WebSphere Application Server for z/OS controller suffers an
ABEND0C4/ABENDS0C4 while processing an HTTP request with a very
long host: value in the HTTP request header.

The host value's long length causes a parse failure, which
    later causes the ABEND0C4.

Problem conclusion

  • The parse failure was corrected.

APAR PK69371 currently targeted for inclusion in Service
Level (Fix Pack) 6.0.2.31 of WebSphere Application Server V6.0.1
