Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server version * * 6.0.2.13 or later users who invoke the * * RequestDispatcher forward method. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Response is returned chunked after a * * call to the forward method of the * * RequestDispatcher. This can cause a * * small performance loss when an * * application has many dispatch forwards. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In fixpacks 6.0.2.13 and 6.1.0.1, a problem was fixed where a call to response.flushBuffer() in JavaServer Pages did not flush all data to the client. However, this fix also caused the response data to be sent out chunked after the RequestDispatcher's forward method was invoked. A chunked response requires more read calls by the web server plugin, and this has a minor performance impact.
Problem conclusion
The Web Container code was modified to correct the problem. The response data, however, is still returned chunked if it exceeds the response buffer size. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.0.2.31 and 6.1.0.19 Please refer to the recommended updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980
