APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • ASMA973U WORK FILE MAXIMUM BLOCK COUNT EXCEEDED is one error
    that could be seen when assembling TPF or a very large program.
    This is one problem I have found, however when a beta fix was
    applied, the existing TPF assembly still runs out of storage.
    The option WORKFILE is used with a large //SYSUT1 DD SPACE
    and a large REGION option on the job statement.

    *                                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When using the WORKFILE option HLASM is not using the correct
    BLKSIZE for the WORKFILE and is trying to put all internal
    blocks in storage.

Problem conclusion

  • The High Level Assembler has been modified to ensure that the
    WORKFILE is used when required and that the correct BLKSIZE is
    used.
