Error description
PE33761-F802 After applying PTF UK33761 for APAR PK56992 if an abend occurs in a task and transaction isolation is active ( TRANISO YES is specified in the CICS SIT ), the following messages may be seen in the CICS region: . If the abends continue to occur at a high rate, you may also receive the following messages in MAS or CMAS: . EYUXC0023S applid Maximum data cache limit has been reached for QUE cache EYUXC0024S applid The CMAS is terminating due to a previous error with the Cache component . MAS method NLS4 is called to process XSTOUT in error. EYU9NLDC XDUREQC GLUE uses R6 for an XPI call to SM domain for TRANISO processing and then uses R6 again later to set XMEMSG_ACTION in the message bucket. The XPI parmlist is later interpreted by MAS method NLXD as an XSTOUT request resulting in the abend. Method NLS4 has created a work queue but does not delete the work queue if an abend occurs. If many abends occur, the EYUXC0023S and EYUXC0024S messages may occur for the QUE cache. . Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM V3R2M0 Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After applying PTF UK33761 for APAR * * PK56992, if an abend occurs in a task * * in a MAS and transaction isolation is * * active (TRANISO=YES is specified in the * * MAS's SIT), unpredictable results may * * occur in the MAS. * * * * Problems seen include, but are not * * limited to, the following: * * * * - abend ASRA/S0C4 may occur in method * * EYU0NLS4 (NLS4). * * * * - if RTA SAM is active, a !!SAMTDM or * * !!SAMSDM event will occur but will * * not be resolved. * * * * - if the MAS is active as a CPSM WLM * * target region, transactions may not * * be routed to the MAS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this * * APAR, all MASes must be restarted. Note * * that the restarts do not need to occur at * * the same time. * **************************************************************** CPSM uses CICS Global User Exit (GLUE) programs to capture CICS processing information, place it in a buffer, and post method EYU0NLXD (NLXD), running under the MAS long running task CONL, to process. For example, EYU9NLDR, running as an XDUREQ GLUE, captures Trandump and Sysdump start, while EYU9NLDC, running as an XDUREQC GLUE, captures Trandump and Sysdump complete. These buffers include a flag (XMEMSG_ACTION) which indicates what kind of information is in the buffer, so that NLXD can determine how to process the data. When NLXD receives a Trandump or Sysdump start, it builds an EMASSICK record which it passes to the CMAS to which the MAS is connected. This will cause the CMAS to issue a !!SAMTDM or !!SAMSDM event if RTA SAM is active for the MAS. Additionally, if the MAS is a CPSM WLM target region, WLM will mark the MAS as being sick, lowering the probability that transactions will be routed to it. When NLXD receives a Trandump or Sysdump complete, it builds an EMASWELL record which it passes to the CMAS to which the MAS is connected. This will cause the CMAS to resolve an outstanding !!SAMTDM or !!SAMSDM event if RTA SAM is active for the MAS. Additionally, if the MAS is a CPSM WLM target region, WLM will mark the MAS as being well, increasing the probability that transactions will be routed to it. UK33761 added code to CICSPlex SM GLUEs to switch to CICS BASESPACE mode when transaction isolation is active in the MAS, to avoid possible AKEB/S202 abends. In the code that was added to EYU9NLDC, the contents of the XMEMSG_ACTION flag passed to NLXD was invalidly modified. As a result, NLXD may not process a Trandump or Sysdump complete correctly. This will result in EMASWELLs not being issued for previous EMASSICKs, and possible other problems, including abends in method NLS4.
Problem conclusion
EYU9NLDC has been updated such that the XMEMSG_ACTION flag that it passes to NLXD is not invalidly modified by the processing added for UK33761.
