PK61499: OPTIONALLY RETRIEVE THE PATH OF THE JCR NODE WHERE APPROPRIATE AS RETRIEVING THE PATH IS SLOW ON Z/OS DB2.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When retrieving nodes on z/OS DB2 through the JCR, the path
  retrieval is very slow. It took 35 seconds to retrieve 276 nodes
  with paths and 2 seconds to retrieve 276 noes without paths. WCM
  queries can be optimised to not get the paths when not needed.
  One example of this is getting the sitearea descendents for a
  menu query.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Users Affected: All Java edition LWWCM users
  
  Problem Description:Getting the path of items is slow in the JCR
  when running on z/OS DB2.
  

Problem conclusion

• JCR has a different implementation for the path retrieval on DB2
  z/OS due to the constraints of that platform. This
  implementation has a performance impact. It is possible for WCM
  to avoid getting the paths for nodes. Retrieval of paths should
  be avoided where possible.
  The majority of WCM queries will now not get the paths for the
  nodes. The paths will only be retrieved when needed.
