• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer experienced constant increase of STORAGE REQUIRED doing
  IMS LGEN.  The STORAGE REQUIRED constantly increases eachtime
  the assembler gets invoked and eventually fails with message

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: All users using Batched Assemblies and       *
  *                 very large assemblies with NOWORKFILE and    *
  *                 WORKFILE option.                             *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 1. When using Batched assemblies,       *
  *                         HLASM is not cleaning up all         *
  *                         storage between assemblies causing   *
  *                         it to sometimes run out of internal  *
  *                         storage space.                       *
  *                      2. For large assemblies the assembler   *
  *                         can sometimes run out of internal    *
  *                         storage space.                       *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  When using Batched assemblies, the Storage required count
  gradually increases till the assembler runs out of internal
  storage space.
  

Problem conclusion

• The High Level Assembler has been modified to ensure that
  storage is freed up between Batched assemblies.
